2018 marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s FRANKENSTEIN, and in the centuries since, the work has inspired countless interpretations, adaptations, spinoffs, references, and general reverance. It was, in essence, the first real piece of popular science fiction, and continues to represent literary excellence by women as well as a perfectly distilled form of human existential contemplation.

How could Famous Monsters not give Frankenstein the anniversary cover he deserves?

Famed Famous Monsters cover artist Sanjulian has created a brand new Frankenstein piece for the FM’s 2018 annual magazine. The art is is available for pre-order as exclusive San Diego Comic-Con apparel.

And our monster is not alone: he is accompanied by his Bride, introduced in James Whale’s seminal 1935 THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and not forgotten since. Elsa Lanchester’s unforgettable portrayal of a confused, recently awoken experiment has given her likeness incredible staying power, matched only by Boris Karloff’s iconic Frankenstein monster. Together they are unstoppable!

Famous Monsters’ 2018 annual issue will include a celebration of the horror classic in fiction and cinematic forms — and that’s only the tip of the iceberg for the 200 page extravaganza.

See Sanjulian’s “Frank and Bride Forever” cover art below, and don’t forget to pre-order your t-shirt at Captain Company!
